in reply to: Vixens drama! Fever v Vixens called off!!! #1327071
I can NOT believe Fever are trying to say it should be a forfeit, if the tables were reversed they would NEVER play without 3 key players (or even one if it was Fowler, as let’s be honest they wouldn’t win a game without her – whoops sorry I just dropped down the Fever’s level of petty) 😆😂
in reply to: Vixens drama! Fever v Vixens called off!!! #1327016Interesting comments @freonetball8
In hindsight not traveling to Byron seems obvious but as a Sydneysider myself things have been changing quickly everyday there was only a few cases a few days ago. I don’t put blame on the 3 players and as mentioned the entire team were in NSW within the 14 days anyway
If Fever expected them to play with 7 players that’s ridiculous as they would surely not do the same if they were put in that situation, especially if Fowler was one of the three
in reply to: Vixens drama! Fever v Vixens called off!!! #1327014I’m assuming they will as swifts are based there now!
in reply to: Vixens drama! Fever v Vixens called off!!! #1327002A bit rich from fever… they’d be the first team to refuse to play if Fowler was unable to fly, but they expect other teams to do that. Such an unlikeable team across the board, I’m disappointed the Swifts game will likely be in Qld and I won’t be able to cheer them on in person in Sydney
Also if football teams are given exemptions and netball teams are treated differently this is just another example of inequality and sexism in sport in aus :negative:
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316582Liz Watson must have been quite a bit younger then? But yes she’s absolutely shining now. Seems a bit luck of the draw if you’re close to the 21 cut off for the 4 year cycle. Some talented 18/19 year olds would miss out
I think garret was only 18 in that team. She still had a bright future – hope a good team picks her up and she gets some good training and opportunities – would love to see her at Lightning. They’d have to be thinking about their team after Maweni
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1316575It’s so interesting to see how players from the U21 World Cup team are going now – and what a difference coaching and the right opportunities can do.
Care Koenan, Sophie Garbin, Kim Jenner and Amy Parmenter didn’t make the team and are absolutely killing it now!
& then some like COB & O’Shannessy disrupted with injuries. And others like Garrett, Petty not yet had a chance to shine
& others were always going to be superstars no matter what like JLP, Eddy, Anstiss & Austin
in reply to: 2020 SSN GRAND FINAL – VIXENS v FEVER #1315312Courtney Bruce was annoying today, so much drama trying to get an offensive contact
Yay vixens !!!! Love seeing them win
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1314942Ooh would love another WD, but also think Swifts would have done better this year had Turner been fully fit all season – she’s def an underrated part of that team (can you tell I’m still upset they lost to fever haha)
in reply to: SSN 2021 signings/rumours #1314886Omg I really hope Rav comes back into some amazing form – she copped so much flak at Collingwood. She looks so happy after some time off and she thrived at Firebirds before
Simpson at Swifts would be amazing – they need a stronger WD! That plus an uninjured Maddy turner will help them back into the grand final – but doubt Simpson would leave Firebirds after being captain and so loyal to them
in reply to: 2020 SSN MINOR SEMI FINAL – FEVER v SWIFTS #1313848Last time they played they had no Housby and didn’t have a fully fit Turner. As a swifts fan, I’m hoping they can pull together something, like they did in the final series last year
Also wondering if Teague Neeld will crack under finals pressure. Hadley and Proud will come out strong and out play the Fever mid court – klau will come out strong too. Hoping for a good game !
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 13 – VIXENS v FIREBIRDS #1313062Saw a few comments on Facebook (🤦🏻♀️) and also tbh even Sue Gaudion’s comments that she should have gone off – when it looked like Mi Mi only stood up because of Dunkley cramping
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 13 – VIXENS v FIREBIRDS #1313056Yeah agree! Hopefully now it’s becoming more professional the talent from all backgrounds won’t drop out earlier in the pathways
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 13 – VIXENS v FIREBIRDS #1313037I’m so conflicted about the Mi Mi situation. Agree it would have been lovely if the coaches had planned to have her come on towards the end of the game.
But really feel for Dunkley!! From what I saw Mi Mi was standing to sub in only because Dunkley was cramping, not because of the round. But then Dunkley was fine and stayed on – which any other week would have been no problem and I’m sure the fact it was indigenous round didn’t even cross her mind. She was playing WA against the team that never upgraded her from training partner and continually chose Honey over her and she was playing fantastic (much better than Honey). After years not getting on court I can see how that didn’t cross her mind – and I don’t think people should be bagging her online! I’m sure if she could go back she would do it differently but really don’t think people should be criticising her online, she didn’t snub Mi Mi
As to whether Mi Mi should have started, it would have been great but again, the best 7 should start.
Definitely a broader problem that there aren’t more indigenous players represented, but tbh netball as a whole suffers from lack of diversity and generally more privileged players make it to the higher levels. Listening to the commentary on Sports Sunday where they were grilling Cath Cox was frustrating as of course there is more representation in football because they have so much more money to invest than netball, and the football codes have been a professional sport for a lot longer. A lot of netballers can’t afford to pursue a sport that at training partner and ANL level requires professional hours but not the pay. In saying that would love to see more investment and representation – unsure what the solution is?
in reply to: 2020 SSN ROUND 13 – VIXENS v FIREBIRDS #1313032Add on the fact that Charles’ goal assists are IMHO much easier than Watson’s 😬😬
Watson really is incredible! Loved her talking about how Honey was faster than her but needed to be more demanding. Made me realise how Liz’s mindset really makes her a phenomenal player, she doesn’t back down and takes some fierce drives
